The Director of Ad Product & Business Management will be a centralized leader and liaison to Yahoo Inc and Yahoo Japan with responsibility for ad technology, ad strategy and other sales-related activities including cross-border sales.

 

Job Description:

 

  • Work with Yahoo’s JV entities (Yahoo Japan and Yahoo 7) to effectively articulate their market needs for advertiser and publisher monetization products.
  • Identify current and near future ad products capabilities from Yahoo Inc that can meet the market needs for the JVs, and work with cross functional teams to bring those product to these markets. Partner with engineering, product management and business operations to ensure right set of testing, training and product messaging for launching the product capability.
  • Work with the JVs to identify the gaps in current display product capabilities for these markets, and develop a plan to fill the gap by any of the following :

o   Influencing roadmaps of the Yahoo Inc’s global products

o   Identify technology partners and establish an integration plan

o   Devise requirements for in-house solutions that extend the current platforms

  • Assist cross-boarder sales activities between Yahoo Inc and Yahoo Japan, facilitate communications and resolve roadblocks.
  • Work closely with multiple cross-functional groups in both the United States and the JV entities, including Product Management, Project Management, Operations Finance, Advertiser Sales, and Publisher Sales. In order to establish and maintain strong working relationships on multiple continents, international travel is a core requirement for this role.

The group’s mission to continuously capitalize on product, market and competitive insights from US, Japan and Asia to optimize synergies between Yahoo Inc and the JV entities, thereby delivering revenue growth, market share and strategic partnerships.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

 

Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive work experience with clear track record of success required.
  • Consulting experience with top tier consulting firm preferred.
  • Experience working and communicating with senior management required.
  • Experience building and implementing cross-functional strategic and business planning programs and processes.
  • General management and product management experience required.
  • Understanding of the Internet advertising products in industry and its associated players required.
  • Experience successfully managing large cross-functional projects and teams required. 
  • International work experience preferred.

 

Requirements: 

  • Strong verbal and written communications in both Japanese and English required.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.  Diplomacy, tact and relationship building skills, especially the ability to develop strong, effective working relationships in situations where team members have conflicting goals and objectives.
  • Strong ability to develop explicit prioritization frameworks that help to facilitate objective discussions and negotiations
  • Strong blend of business acumen, technical knowledge, and strategic perspective.
  • Driven, high energy level, and strong commitment to driving results.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and build consensus without clear authority.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or computer science from top tier institution required. 
  • MBA from top tier institution required. 
  • Product and/or project management experience required.
