Tell us about yourself I am a current MBA Candidate with a focus in Supply Chain Management and I am seeking a full time opportunity upon graduation in May of 2019. I would be a great fit for a position at my future organization because of my strong educational background in supply chain, operations, and analytics provided to me by the University of Maryland. I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to my summer internship with John Deere as a Supply Management Intern for Indirect Materials & Services, and hopefully, to a future position at a respected company. Project Management: While at John Deere, I was a Project Manager for the training of a newly implemented procurement software, SMART by GEP. I managed global training for the new software by creating tutorials, facilitating pilot testing, and constructing the overall training plan for the entire company. I also managed a project to consolidate duplicate John Deere part numbers (similar to manufacturing part numbers) by analyzing the part numbers in SAP and identifying which numbers could be consolidated. I then worked with the engineering team to strategize solutions to consolidate the identified part numbers. Analytical: A few of the core classes as a Supply Chain Management MBA student at the University of Maryland include Decision Analytics and Revenue Management. These classes have effectively taught me how to use Excel’s solver function to forecast demand and price goods and services to attain the maximum revenue. Also, at John Deere, I used my analytical skills to examine 16,000 part numbers and identify 2,000 duplicate part numbers for consolidation. Self motivated: Working for a huge corporation such as John Deere, I quickly had to immerse myself in the company to successfully fit in with my peers and accomplish my projects. Within days, I learned the SMART tool in order to teach pilot users and facilitate pilot testing as an “expert” in the new procurement software. As well, one of my deliverables included video tutorials for multiple procure-to-pay functions in the SMART tool. I taught myself how to use Adobe Captivate to create short videos that will be used for the lifespan of the SMART tool at John Deere. I also used my summer as an opportunity to familiarize myself with Tableau. As a self-taught Tableau user, I utilized online videos and exercises to grasp the concept of this new software. I’ve been proudly using Tableau in my current classes to easily visualize data for group projects. In addition, I am currently pursuing a Green Belt Lean Six Sigma certification. Communication: I have five years experience as a Financial Counselor with Saint Clare’s Health System. I have developed strong communication skills by educating patients on insurance benefits and financial responsibilities. I have a collaborative spirit and can build trusting relationships with internal and external customers. I have established business relationships with internal coordinators and external office managers to increase revenues by decreasing insurance denials and managing new business opportunities. Team Player: I managed the Cardiac Rehabilitation accounts at Saint Clare’s Hospital and through teamwork and commitment, was able to increase revenues by 30% and increase the number of patients by 20% with less staff. As a Financial Counselor, I worked to improve processes and make daily functions more efficient for myself and my teammates. I created manuals with instructions and visuals to streamline daily procedures and cross-train coworkers and new hires. The group’s efficiency increased from 40 to 50 accounts per day. I worked closely with teammates and collaborated on projects to solve problems to prevent delays in patient care. I am a very positive person and my enthusiastic energy to complete tasks and meet deadlines were always contagious to those on my team.
