Position Description
We are a team of Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Management professionals with a mission to optimize the allocation of Inventory across the eCommerce fulfillment network and help improve speed of delivery and reduce operational cost.

We are building decision models to help stock inventory closest to the customer while ensuring no operational constraints are violated. The size and nature of our business makes this a very huge and complicated problem for which we need to utilize mathematical optimizations - combination of LP/MIP models, Meta-heuristics and Machine Learning techniques. The impact is measured tens of millions of Dollars in cost savings and faster deliveries to customers. Our business stakeholders – the Network Strategy and Optimization team – collaborates with us in the fast paced and highly iterative development environment and provide the feedback needed to build a valuable product.

As an intern you will not only work on the most challenging problems in computer science and operations research but will also have an unparalleled opportunity to impact the lives of over one billion Walmart customers.

The Intern Program
Your intern experience will far beyond your specific assignment. Through the intern executive speaker series, tech talks and work-team activities you will be able to gain a greater knowledge of the company as well as the industry. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of professional development offers ranging from brand knowledge to agile training.

Finally and most importantly…being an intern @Walmart Labs is fun! Whether you are playing a pickup basketball or ping pong game, going to the San Francisco Giants games, or taking an intern-only catamaran cruise around the San Francisco, there is always something going on.
