Position Description
The Walmart Labs Search and Categorization engineering team is looking summer interns to work on the following: building a next generation search and categorization system, geared toward building an algorithm-driven e-commerce engine. Specifically responsibles include working on building algorithms for search relevance, data mining for relevance signals, product taxonomy and social data mining. Work will be also done on areas like Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Text mining, Natural Language Processing, Statistics and Regression and Query parsing and expansion.

Minimum Qualifications
Who are we looking for? 
Smart students who are out to change the world! 
• Must be currently pursuing a MS/PhD in Computer Science or another highly computative discipline.
• Programming experience in one of the languages such as C/C++/Java.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Good knowledge of Algorithms and Data structures.
• Good knowledge in information retrieval, natural language processing, statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Problem solving skill and willingness to work on a hard relevance problem.
• Familiarity operating Linux-based systems.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of map-reduce/Hadoop/Hive/Pig is a plus
• Knowledge of scripting languages e.g. python, shell scripts, etc is a plus.
• Industry experience is a plus.
