Job Description

THE TEAM
T-Mobile's Corporate
Strategy & Analysis team is an internal consulting group that works both
independently and with executive staff and senior leaders from across the
company. Leveraging deep problem solving skills, the team delivers big
insights and helps leaders throughout the business make critical strategic and
operational decisions. The team reports to the Chief Strategy Officer of
T-Mobile USA and its success is measured by how pervasively its work impacts important
business decisions and shapes the strategic direction of the company.
YOUR ROLE
As an intern in
CS&A, you have the unique opportunity to have a direct and measurable
impact on T-Mobile's strategic direction and the company's bottom line. You'll need
skills that enable you to: play in other people's sandboxes, rapidly learn the
nuances of their business areas, complete robust analyses, and recommend
meaningful changes for the better. This role favors a combination of problem
solving skills, initiative, and business judgment to deliver actionable
recommendations. This person interacts with senior leaders across the company
and so must also be able to clearly communicate recommendations.
Given the impact this position can have on company direction, you must feel
comfortable taking and defending polarizing positions based on your work. This
position is designed to develop future leaders at the company.
SKILL SETS
Work on the Corporate
Strategy & Analysis team is project-based and varied-requiring you to
interact with different groups and tackle new challenges each and every
quarter. Rather than taking a defined model and plugging in numbers,
you're building the problem solving approach from the ground up, testing
multiple hypotheses, and developing new ideas from scratch. The position
requires a special balance of both analytical and communication skills.
You need to be able to structure the problem solving approach, develop
hypothesis, gather data from multiple sources, rigorously test your ideas, and
develop recommendations. Lastly, you must work with client organizations to
develop buy-in and drive positive change.

Responsibilities
|
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Perform a role on projects, working closely with internal clients to understand key business issues and structure problem solving approaches.
•Provide analytical support to the CS&A team by structuring analytical problems, extracting and analyzing data, and presenting findings.
•Utilize analytical capability to perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to enhance decision making across a range of options.
•Synthesize recommendations and understand their impact on the business.
•Construct executive level presentations and present complex analytical findings in clear, concise, and decision-impacting manner.
•Work with client organizations to build buy-in and drive performance improvement.

•Excellent communication skills: ability to present analytical results to executives in verbal and written form

•Ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple threads of work without sacrificing quality or strategic perspective
•Keen interest in developing business acumen, strategic skills, and in-depth knowledge of the communications industry
Additional:
• Location: Bellevue, WA
• Timeframe: Summer 2014 (start May/June) for 12 weeks
Candidates should have background experience, skills, and/or education appropriate to position description. Candidates must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be currently enrolled in school or post-graduation of six months. Background checks are required for interns. T-Mobile requires that individuals considered for internships are a minimum of 18 years of age and have the right to work in the United States.
