Overview:
 
The mission of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.   

The SEC’s Student Honors Program is a ten-week opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students (Non-legal students only) to become acquainted with the activities of the Federal Government and to gain hands-on experience in an operational office.  Over the course of the ten-week program, students will work with Commission staff on projects particular to the specific Division or Office to which they are assigned. Students participate in seminars/workshops on various aspects of the federal securities laws.

All students must be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student. Please note, selection is based on many factors, including academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or higher), writing skills and experience (e.g., journals), ability to reason independently and creatively (e.g., moot court), clinical/volunteer and work experience relating to the SEC’s work, commitment to its mission, extracurricular activities indicating legal judgment, and well-rounded background.
