Your Responsibilities:

As Technical Solution Manager (TSM) Automotive, you will be responsible for design in of Philips Lumileds’ LED products to our Tier 1 customer base through North America including product and parameter definition as well as periphery design support—mechanical, electrical, optical and thermal.

The TSM proactively prepares the successful sales process towards targeted car platforms for exterior—signal and forward—lighting and interior lighting applications. They establish strong relationships and networks with Tier 1 customers in North America and leverage the internal technical resources to drive adoption of Philips Lumileds’ products. They are responsible for all pre- and post-sale activities to ensure major big win opportunities including:

* Designing and analyzing systems that meet performance and cost targets 
* Advise customers on content required for LED solution with respect to: 
* LED type, number, radiation pattern, flux bins, Vf bins 
* Drive electronics required to meet customer targets 
* Optical prescription to meet customer targets 
* Compliance to system and component level reliability requirements (for example: AEC-Q101, GMW3172) 
* Lay-out conceptual clinch frames using CAD software 
* Communicate LED solution options to Sales Development, Technical Marketing and Product Marketing prior to quoting 
* Provide input to account/program strategy and align with Sales Manager 
* Collect and communicate current and future product needs to Product Marketing
* Work closely with engineering/manufacturing/quality teams to address customer needs 
* Ensuring new designs meet customer specifications and expectations 
* Designing and analyzing electronic drive circuits 
* Designing and analyzing thermal management systems 
* Designing and analyzing secondary and tertiary optical systems required to meet automotive photometric specifications 
* Develop materials and perform customer training seminars to ensure proper usage of LED components 
* Identify and develop new business opportunities and position existing and future products for new markets

Your Team:

The Automotive team in Farmington Hills, MI is the main headquarters for Philips Automotive activities in North America. Made up of approximately 45 professionals, this growing and results-oriented organization is responsible for marketing and selling Philips Automotive products to the North America market, including partnering with car manufacturers to design lighting solutions to specific car models, as well as the back end supply chain support for demand and quality expectations.

Qualifications:

* A minimum of a Bachelor degree in Engineering or Sciences; Master degree is preferred 
* 3 years of previous experience in an Applications engineering or Design Engineering role 
* Strong semiconductor background, preferred LED or optoelectronic background 
* Automotive experience is required 
* Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; bilingual skills (German, French, Japanese, Korean, Chinese) preferred 
* Willing to travel frequently
