Nielsen: Music Intern, MBA - New York

Nielsen Music is a division that works with music sales, airplay tracking, and custom analytics, serving a multitude of different companies with its valuable services. We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join the Nielsen Music team for the Spring and Summer 2014 semester to support the product launch of a new product.

This new product will be a web-based and mobile optimized that will give companies the unprecedented ability to compare and contrast music sales, airplay, streaming and social media data in one convenient location. This platform contains data from our current systems and will incorporate new data like social and web information in its first release.

This is an exciting internship opportunity to be involved with a product launch and represent Nielsen on-site with a label client. During the Spring, you will be trained on Nielsen tools and products to prepare you for on-site client support in the Summer.  You will be responsible for analyzing new digital opportunities and supporting the Product and Client Solutions teams to execute deals that optimize revenue for Nielsen Entertainment. The role will be based in New York or Los Angeles.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data trends and pull key insights from a new product to consult clients and inform the Nielsen Entertainment client solutions teams on deal points and potential revenue streams. 
  • Support the launch of a new product onsite with a label client.
  • Provide consultative approach to on-site client on how to make Nielsen tools actionable and solve their business challenges and strategic objectives. 
QUALIFICATIONS
 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in media and entertainment in a data analytical support capacity. Must be data savvy with strong quantitative and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of streaming music data, social media metrics, and the connection    between brand marketing and entertainment.
  • A passion for the music industry is preferred.
  • Experience with Microstrategy preferred
  • Excellent ability to influence and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to translate client business needs into creative and technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be pro-active, organized and efficient.
  • Must be able to work in BOTH the Spring (part-time) and Summer (full-time).
  • BA required, and must be currently enrolled in an MBA program.

This is a paid internship which will be a unique opportunity to experience the Nielsen environment, culture and team while enhancing your professional and personal skills!

Work Schedule:

  • Beginning in January /February:  Part-Time:  Monday- Friday - Days/Hours are flexible, with an expected workweek of 4-8 hours while you learn about Nielsen products. 
  • Beginning in April: Full-time: Monday-Friday on-site with a label client (Approx. 9-12 weeks/ 20-30 hours per week.).
