The Senior Transport Manager role is part of the local Management Team and will play a pivotal role in the success of Expedia Point of Sale in Thailand (Expedia.co.th). You will be the driving force behind a travel product supply strategy that will give the business a competitive position in the market based on the breath, depth, pricing and differentiation of its product offer. You will be responsible for all commercial relationships with airlines, insurance and cruise companies. You will also manage the contractual arrangements, product and content loading for these travel products (working with our internal and external partner teams). You will be responsible for meeting sales targets, and through the supply strategy maximise the revenue and profitability of Expedia.co.th.

 Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for the development and execution of the non-hotel supply strategy for Expedia.co.th
  • Manage all commercial supplier relations for Air, Insurance, 3rd Party Packages and Cruises, and negotiate contracts and overrides with these suppliers on an ongoing basis. This includes maintenance of the accounts, sales presentations, and attendance at travel industry related functions.
  • Manage contract and content loading (Air and others) involving prioritization, quality control, efficiency, promotions/specials, etc.
  • Define the product strategy for products that are managed by the Asia Pacific point of supply teams (Hotels and Attractions & Activities) and work closely with them to secure competitive (breath, depth, pricing, specials) product supply.
  • Work closely with other management team members to understand customer requirements and take responsibility to deliver products that meet their requirements. Support customer research and communication activities.
  • Manage the revenue and yield for each product and provide regular forecasting and reporting of product sales.
  • Define and implement air, insurance, etc. merchandising and sales campaigns with suppliers with support from the Product/Merchandising team, and source and implement tactical deals and offers for promotions and deal pages.
  • Manage competitor analysis to ensure competitiveness of supply deals for all products.
  • Manage collation of all deals for the “Deals” pages & sections on the website(s)
  • Liaise with Supply Relations groups from other Expedia businesses to share and implement best practices.
  • Provide input into strategic and business decisions and support business development, product improvement and innovation, and site enhancement efforts

 Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrated track record negotiating and / or account managing at senior level
  • Proven excellent negotiation skills
  • Outstanding analytical and strategic thinking skills, including demonstrated general problem-solving skills and an intense curiosity to identify emerging business trends and ensuing needs
  • Excellent customer service and relationship building ethic, strong social intelligence
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce/new media industry, related metrics, and intricacies
  • Cross-functional experience (product planning and development, marketing, merchandising, and market management)
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a wide variety of projects simultaneously and under deadline
  • Ability to develop create and innovative solutions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing (in English and Thai) is a must
  • Experience of procurement process (tender process, contracting, SLA’s etc.)
  • Excellent quality control ability and strong organizational abilities
  • Energetic, highly motivated can-do attitude
  • High proficiency in MS Office tools (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Knowledge of Travel Industry and GDS/CRS’s (desirable)
  • Passionate about travel
  • University degree required, preferably combined with MBA degree.
