The NAAMBA-DC Regional was formed in April 2011 under the leadership of Ming Liu and Sanjay Rajpal. During this five month period, the regional team has accomplished several key goals to solidify its presence. To ensure that NAAMBA is reaching its target members, NAAMBA-DC has established strong relationships with the top three MBA programs in the area – Georgetown University, University of Maryland, and George Washington University. NAAMBA-DC has been able to capitalize on the unique employment opportunities in the nation’s capital by engaging with numerous federal and international organizations, including the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), the World Bank and International Finance Corporation. The regional team also has established strong working relationships with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to help advance and influence Asian leadership at a national level.
As a part of its growth strategy, NAAMBA-DC has been collaborating with the regional chapters of other professional associations, such as the National Black MBA Association and National Association of Asian American Professionals, to expand NAAMBA’s reach, network, and opportunities. Through these relationships, NAAMBA-DC has successfully co-sponsored two major open house events at the SEC and the Federal Housing Finance Agency, providing NAAMBA members access to over 200 job opportunities.
