This role resides in the U.S. Third Party Distribution (TPD) Product Strategy Group within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. The team is responsible for facilitating product sales through product development, technical sales support, and delivery of competitive insights to the US TPD sales teams and intermediary clients serving retail, higher-net-worth, variable annuity (VA) carriers, corporate retirement plans, and some direct institutional investors.  The candidate will drive critical initiatives relating to the expansion of GSAM’s retirement and variable annuity businesses. 

As a member of the Product Strategy team, this individual will be primarily responsible for helping GSAM maximize distribution opportunities, enhance client retention, improve client experience, and further develop its franchise in Defined Contribution Investment Only (DCIO) and Variable Annuity distribution.  The position is a newly created role within the Product Strategy team and based in New York.  GSAM currently oversees over $17B in VA assets and $77B in retirement assets.

Responsibilities: 
• Project management – oversight and driving of key strategic initiatives across the business, coordinating with constituents across the DCIO and VA business 
• Competitive analysis – assessment of trends and business implications / opportunities (flows, performance, fees) and delivery of relevant information to TPD through sales calls, voicemails or other internal communications 
• Client Engagement materials – strategic design and involvement in creation of positioning pieces, pitch books, white papers 
• Sales Training – products, market events, regulation 
• Business & Product Strategy – top-down drivers of prioritization and focus 
• Sales Team & Client Engagement – present to sales and clients on investment process, portfolio positioning, current events; offer insights and answer questions on market trends and themes

Basic Qualifications

• At least 7 years of relevant experience 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills 
• Experience managing large projects and executing associated deliverables 
• Deep understanding of retirement and or variable annuity solutions utilized by intermediaries and professional investors 
• Demonstrated proficiency in articulating investment strategy, portfolio positioning and capital markets developments 
• In-depth knowledge of GSAM products and capabilities or external investment managers 
• Willingness to travel as required in support of product sales and client retention initiatives 
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others 
• Strong work ethic and commercial perspective 
• Series 7 and 63 
• CFA, CFA candidate or prior asset management experience preferred 
• MBA preferred
